Having played a lot of videos games, board games and role playing games you start to create a small list of popular streams in your head that you checkout every so often. For example one of my favourite Hearthstone streams is Day9tv, it’s whimsical and thought provoking at the same time.

So today i’m going to share some of my favourite role playing streams, not for video games, but rather for tabletop role playing games like Dungeons and Dragons.

Critical Role

This is my favourite stream, so it gets the top spot. It’s a group of voice actors who have been playing the same game of Dungeons and Dragons for close to 2 years. The Dungeon Master (DM), Matt Mercer weaves the story excellently and brings the world to life, with the help of the players.

What makes this such a good stream to watch is the interaction between players, they each have their own relationships which is awesome to watch live. Take a look at the stream over on the Geek and Sundry twitch channel on thursdays: http://www.twitch.tv/geekandsundry.

Role Play

Role Play was the first tabletop role playing stream I ever watched, although it’s across the internet using roll 20, as opposed to face to face like Critical Role, it’s still excellent. It deserves a lot more attention in my opinion, the content over on the YouTube channel is incredible.

The main reason to watch this stream is down to it’s diversity in content, there are different DMs on different days and they each run the game slightly different, which is awesome. One of the designers of Dungeon World (A great RPG system, that puts more responsibility on the players), Adam Koebel runs a campaign on the channel.

Checkout the stream over on: http://www.twitch.tv/itmejp, although if your new it’s probably worth looking on YouTube instead: https://www.youtube.com/user/itmejp.

High Rollers

This a newer channel and it’s doing a great job, it really captures how great it is to play a role playing game with your friends. Everyone has fun and jokes around a little more than the other channels which is perfect for showing people you want to convert into players, muahaha!

The channel is shown on the Yogscast Live and has some great characters in the game, along with some awesome fan art. Take a look at the stream over on: https://www.twitch.tv/yogscast, this is also a good stream for UK viewers as it’s aired on a Sunday at a reasonable time.

Head on over to one of the streams and take a look, leave a comment below with your thoughts on any of the streams, I hope you enjoy them!
